July 31, 1924: Dr. Arthur Besemer was the first person in Marion to make use of the air mail service, sending a letter to his son, Merle Besemer, in San Francisco. Gord and I hosted the Adriaansen family reunion, held at Rod and Helen's on Palmyra Road, because they have a pool. The weather was cooperative, so those who wanted to swim could have their fun and splash the rest of us. The youngest member of the assembly was Derek Adriaansen, son of Brian and Jill.
