Peaches and bike race at the Apple Shed

In celebration of its 30-year anniversary, The Apple Shed of Newark is hosting Peach Weekend August 16 and 17 and Hard Core Mountain Bike Race, on August 16.

Try some peach samples and recipes or ride your bike! The newly-designed bike trails explore acres of woods and apple orchards, providing an approximately three-mile loop of tread-wearing, tire-spinning, dirt-flinging fun.

Hard Core 2003 is a NORBA Sanctioned Race with Beginner, Sport, and Expert Classes for ages 12 and up. Prizes are being provided by Geneva Bicycle Center and there is a cash pay-out for Expert Class. The entry fee for Beginner and Sport classes is $15 with pre-registration and $18 on race day. The entry fee for the Expert class is $20 with pre- registration and $25 on race day. Free T-shirts are provided for those entrants who pre-register and one-day NORBA licenses will be available on the day of race for $5. The race begins at 11.

Bring the family, eat some peaches and cheer the riders as they spin through orchards and woods. Watch some of New York States best riders as they battle it out for the first-place title.

Hard Core 2003 is sponsored by Community Bank, N.A., CountryMax, Arcadia Sports & Awards, Stones Snow Sleds, Wegmans of Newark, Barbara Jeans Furniture, Geneva Bicycle Center and Snapple Beverage Group.
