Flag dedication in Clyde

After two years, the long road traveled to realize the 414 Bridge Flag display of the American, POW and State Flag is a reality.

Galen Town Supervisor Leo Jenkins and the town board, the NYS 7th District POW/MIA Chapter Chairperson, Mike Montemorano and the Clyde Chamber of Commerce took the leadership to make this happen. County agencies and local hands assisted with the project.

On Thursday, August 14, with the assistance of local individuals, a dedication is being planned for the display and all Clyde veterans at the new Erie Canal Dock area. The dock area park will accommodate all those who wish to attend. Program starts at 7:30 p.m.

A bronze plaque donated by the NYS 7th District POW/MIA Chapter, inscribed for the occasion, will be attached to the Old Glory Pole.

A postage stamp will be applied to a postcard honoring the 50th anniversary of the Korean conflict. Other option stamps available are issues of Old Glory depicting historic US Flags and Purple Heart.
