Commemorative stamps in Clyde

On August 14 the U.S. Postal Service will reserve an issue of a commemorative stamp honoring all Clyde veterans, past and present.

The local Chamber of Clyde and the NYS 7th District POW/MIA chapter chairman will be producing a postcard with the Clyde logo overlaid with the recent bridge flag display on Route 414.

U.S. stamps recently issued will be applied to the postcard honoring the 50th anniversary of the Korea conflict. Other options of stamps available are issues of Old Glory depicting historic U.S. flags and Purple Heart.

The cards will go on sale in August honoring this historic display of the American, POW and State flags. The fee will be $1.50 for post card with attached stamp.

The proceeds will be used to help defray the replacement on the bridge display. All those seeking the commemorative card including collectors may purchase cards thru Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 69, Clyde NY 14433, or call 923.9662 or 923.7111.
