Happenings Happy 50th wedding anniversary on August 15, to Sherwood and Cleall Johnson. MEALS ON WHEELS - Volunteers Needed. Home Meal Service, Inc. is in need of volunteers to deliver Meals On Wheels to the homebound in the Marion area. The meals are picked up at the Marion Supervisor's office on North Main Street at 10:45 a.m. to be delivered in about an hour on a scheduled route. If you can spare an hour two to four times a month, call Mary Ann Riker at Home Meal Service office, 946.5623. The Car Show is Sunday, August 17 at Marion Town Park. 'Middle age is when you have two choices, and you choose the one that gets you home earlier.' John Nevlezer has returned home from the Strong Memorial Hospital. Todd Dykhuizen is recovering from surgery at Highland Hospital. Ali Beltrone, daughter of Vince and Kathy, has returned home from the hospital after breaking her arm in a bike accident. Gordon Adriaansen recently underwent angioplasty at Rochester General Hospital. Share Your Abundant Garden: Take your extra produce to Elise Gaylord, Activities Director at Newark Hospital on August 27, 28 or 29. They will hold a Farmers Market August 29, from 10 - 11:30 a.m. Proceeds of sales will benefit the participants in the Adult Day Care Program. Call Elise at 332.2316. 'Man cannot live by bread alone .... He needs peanut butter and jelly to go with it.' Marion Festival is Sept. 19 and 20.
AUGUST 20, 1915: The quiet of the town was disturbed at 4:45 Tuesday by a fire alarm and it was found that the Second Reformed Church was afire. When the fire was overcome only the belfry and shell of the building was left. The church was erected in 1910 and was one of the handsomest in town. Copyright
