Golf event will help charities Arcadia Reformed Church, located on Woodlane in Newark, is sponsoring a Charity Golf Tournament on September 13, at the Taranwould Golf Course, 2084 Hydesville Road, Newark. This will be a four-person scramble with an 11 o'clock tee time. All funds raised will be divided between the Scartlet Thread, a youth center in Sodus, and the Newark Food Closet. Scarlet Thread reaches out to the youth of our area and helps them to make wise, responsible decisions that will last a life time. The Newark Food Closet helps many by supplying food and other essentials during needful and often troubled times of life. Many lives have been touched by both of these great organizations. The cost for this fun-filled event is $45 per person and includes: 18 holes of golf with cart, an awards banquet with a chicken buffet dinner, and lots of great fun! Awards will be given for the Closest to the Pin, Closest to the Line, Longest Drive, Longest Putt, Low and High scores. Only 80 people accepted; cutoff date is when all the spots are filled with payment received or September 6, whichever comes first. Register by calling the Arcadia Reformed Church 331.4903 or Taranwould Golf Course (mornings) 331.9128. Checks should be made payable to Arcadia Reformed Church and can be mailed or brought to the church at 5694 Woodlane, Newark. For more information, call Harold Glerum at Taranwould.
