Farmers to get aid for clean-up

The Wayne County USDA Farm Service Agency Office is now taking applications for the Emergency Conservation Reserve Program. This program will cost share expenses incurred due to the damage to Wayne County farmland from the Ice Storm of April 2003. The Wayne FSA Office has received $112,500 in funding to cover cleanup operations due to the storm damage, such as: tree debris cleanup in fields or orchards, tree debris cleanup of open ditches, and possibly large scale restoration of permanent fencing. Normal maintenance of these structures will not be covered. Farm owners who have already completed or partially completed the cleanup, must submit an application before December 15, 2003.
