Newark Housing Authority wins grant for building

On December 10, at a reception in Sodus, the Newark Housing Development Corporation, a not-for-profit subsidiary of the Housing Authority, received a $5,000 grant from the Wayne County Community Endowment.

This grant will be used to purchase the materials to construct a community facility at Windsong Terrace (off Vienna Street). Labor for this project will be provided by BOCES through its vocational programs.

This facility will allow youth and adult programs to be provided at Windsong Terrace year round. In addition, it will provide valuable job training experience to BOCES students in various trades such as carpentry and electrical.

Work is expected to commence this spring and be ready in time for summer.
