Missing Sodus
By Melissa White

It's another snowy week... (but how long can it possibly last?) Five weeks, tops...

I'm hoping it all goes away by the first of March... all right, the second. Major cabin fever is setting in - along with the flu fever that's going around. We need to get rid of both of them and soon.

I hope Lorrie Zone had a nice birthday. Her brother thought it would be fun to call into a radio station and have it announced for her. What a nice brother.

Don't forget: Tomorrow (Saturday, February 15) there will be a Sweetheart Dinner at Williamson Fire Hall, 7-9 p.m. Call 589.4825

The Humane Society in Lyons has things they need for the animals at the shelter. This is a small part of their wish list: Urgent needs are Cat Litter, Laundry detergent, Bleach, 40-55 gallon construction-grade trash bags, and Dry kitten food.

Did you get a Kiss at the Williamson Public Library? Kids made a Valentine Card for a Veteran and got a candy kiss! The library will send a group mailing to the area VA Hospital. The last day for the card factory is today. Winter Storytime Session is Wednesday mornings @ 10:30. Children ages 3 - 5 are welcome to make new friends, listen to great stories, sing, make simple crafts and just have fun! Call the library to register. 589-2048

And while you're at the library, pick up an excellent adult book - Daddy's Little Girl by Mary Higgins Clark. If you always carry a book in the car, you can read a few pages waiting to pick up the kids from school, waiting at the Doctor's. (It's tough for adults to find time for themselves to read.) A few fun ones to share with the kids:

Miss Spider's New Car by David Kirk

The Mitten Tree by Candace Christiansen

The Seven Silly Eaters by Mary Ann Hoberman

Dogs Don't Wear Glasses by Adrienne Geoghegan

Looking for something fun to do with the kids while they are on vacation next week ? How about bowling? In Newark, there is Doug Kent's Rose Bowl Lanes on West Miller Street. Call to find out the hours of bowling fun, 331.2007.

A great smoothie to pretend it's nice outside and to use when the nice weather really does come:

Paradise Smoothie (Makes 5 servings)

  • 1 can of Dole Tropical Fruit salad undrained
  • 1 Cup Dannon Plain or Vanilla non-fat yogurt
  • 1 Cup Dole Paradise Blend Juice
  • 1 Dole Banana
  • l/2 Cup ice cubes

Combine all in the blender or food processor container; cover, and blend until smooth.

If you have anything you'd like to share, send them along to mgoodcooke@yahoo.com

Have a Happy Valentines Day and have a great week.
