Children depend on Foster Grandparents Would you like to volunteer for the Foster Grandparent Program? It may just be what you need to fill the hours spent watching the snow fall. Children are waiting to tell you stories of this wonderful wintry season. Foster Grandparents provide individual, attention and unhurried help to children who have special needs. They read to the children, listen to them read, and assist them with their schoolwork. You can be the one who makes a difference. In return for 20 hours of service per week, Foster Grandparents receive a tax-free stipend of $53 a week, travel reimbursement, and many other benefits. Volunteers gain a sense of satisfaction and pride in knowing that they are helping children to succeed and to feel good about themselves. The Foster Grandparent Program is funded by the Corporation for National Service, and the NYS Office for the Aging, sponsored by Wayne County Action Program.
