Happenings Lillian Cherrier of Sunset Drive spent December 28 with her family celebrating their Christmas holiday. It was held at the Clyde VFW and members came from as far away as Rochester, Hilton and Massena. 'It takes a long time to grow old friends.' They had four feet of snow in Herkimer County on Christmas day! The youth at the Second Reformed Church (Mill Street) will hold their 16th annual Martin Luther King Day Ham Dinner on Monday, Jan. 20. Servings begin at 4:30 p.m. until sold out. Ham, Baked Potato, Roll, Salad Bar, Dessert Bar and Beverage. Freewill donation. Julia Reesor presented the Ministry of Music at Second Reformed Church on December 29. Her selection was titled, This Mystery. Holly Doyle has returned home from the hospital. Pearl Dey is now staying with her daughter-in-law Cindy Dey on Walworth Road. Dear Dan: We had the most beautiful 'White Christmas!' It was just like a scene on a Christmas card. Hope you and Mary enjoyed Happy Holidays. I received a cute plaque to hang in the kitchen, from our favorite granddaughter on Christmas. It says, 'I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food.' Another gift I asked for was a new Foley food mill. The one I received is the largest I have ever seen! On Wednesday, along with football, jigsaw puzzles, and eating, we took turns ricing two big, blue Hubbard squash. My absolute favorite! Rev. Stuart Mitchell was the welcomed guest minister December 29 at the United Church. 'You shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands. You need to be able to throw something back.' Eunice Ellsworth's son Jerry came from Albany to spend time with his mother over the Christmas holiday. They enjoyed attending a play and eating at some of their favorite restaurants. January 4, 1913: A saw mill and crate factory belonging to Norman Kellogg living three miles northwest of this village was burned to the ground last Tuesday with a loss of $2,500.
