Boat Smart, Jet Smart classes in Newark

Red Jacket Power Squadron of the United States Power Squadrons, Sail and Power Boating will sponsor BOAT SMART and JET SMART classes. Adults and youths may attend at Newark St. Michael School on Thursdays, starting Feb. 6 for four weeks, 7 to 9 p.m. These classes are needed for PWC Certificates.

An adult must accompany anyone under 16.

Instruction includes operating a boat legally; selecting the right boat; mooring, docking and anchoring; lines, knots and hitches; hazardous conditions; trailering and navigation lights; life jackets/PFDs; navigation rules and right of way; man overboard; distress signals; USCG safety standards; medical emergency.
