Missing Sodus We've had so much snow! This has been a tough winter! Is there really any grass under it all? Not everyone dislikes snow - some take advantage of the amount of it and ride snow mobiles. Janet Lesschorn and her family love riding along the trails. There are four Snowmobile Clubs in the area In Newark there is the Canaltown Snowmobilers on Whitbeck Rd. in Newark - Your host is Sandy Wirth. 315.331.5131 Williamson Snowmobilers on Bear Swamp Rd. Call Richard at 315.589.8096 Wayne County Snowmobile Club on New Wickham Drive in Penfield and the Lakeshore Snow Devils in Wolcott, 315.564.5620, Larry Curtis. The Snow Devils have a great website at http://www.snowdevils.net They have a nice page telling all about the club and even have online shopping. I guess it would give people a reason to look forward to winter and maybe make it go much faster. I thought I had it all figured out for my pick in the Super Bowl. (Since I hadn't watched a lot of football during the season, I needed another way.) I was watching a show the other day and a football player and his mom not from either team mentioned the Raiders. Well, I thought if anyone knew the strong team, a professional would. The beginning looked good but, as you know, it was downhill from there. I didn't need them to win, but to have a closer score would have been nice. Tonight (Fri., January 31), there will be a Spaghetti Dinner at Sodus High cafeteria, 5-7:30 p.m. Your tickets ($6 adult; $3 for 12 and under; kids under 5 free) benefit the Sodus Baseball Club. There will also be a Chinese Auction, and the kids will be collecting cans and bottles. And if you can't make it to the dinner, you can take your cans and bottles to the ball players tomorrow (Feb.1) at the Super Duper. Tonight and tomorrow, you can go to see the When I'm Kissing You at the Gates Hall on Lake Road in Pultneyville. Tickets are available by calling Gatesinger Box Office at 589-3326. Ticket price is $5 per person. 8 p.m. The Sodus Free Library will have its Annual Association Meeting on Thursday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. The Annual Association dues are $1. Trustees will be elected at the meeting. There are many fun recreational things to do in Wayne County, although many of them are during the warmer weather. (I myself am looking forward to the sunny side of the spectrum, concerts by the lighthouse, boating and sitting in the warm sunshine.) A fun thing to do whether you are sitting by the fireplace or sitting on the deck, is to read with your family. Some fun books to share with your kids:
When you have events you'd like to share please write to me at I'd be glad to add them to the column. It's fun to hear what other people are up to and, who knows, you may have a complete stranger come up to you and say Happy Birthday because they read about you in the column. Have a great week and think warm thoughts.
