Boater safety class

The Sheriff's Office will be conducting an eight-hour boater safety class which will be held in two parts.

The first will be July 14 from 6-10 p.m. and the second four hours - July 16, from 6-10 p.m.

The classes will be held at the Wayne County Fire Training Building which is located at 7368 Route 31, Lyons, behind the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.

Youths between the ages of 10 and 18 years old are required to have a boater safety certificate in order to operate a boat. Anyone age 31 and younger must have this certification to operate a personal watercraft (Jetski). This certification will only be issued upon successful completion of the boater safety course recognized by the state of New York.
