Lyons Methodists going on workcamp

A group of young people from the Methodist Church in Lyons will participate in a week-long workcamp mission to the residents of Jamestown.

July 27- August 2, the young people will participate in the Jamestown Workcamp, sponsored by the Group Workcamps of Loveland, Colorado. Workcamp participants provide their own expenses and transportation to the workcamp. The young people will repair and weatherize family homes for elderly, low-income and disabled people.

Young people making the trip are Kevin Coons, Tim Meyers, Jennifer Gifford, Melody Gifford, Katee Tiballi, Ashley Butler and Alicia Sieling. Adult leaders accompanying the young people will be Andy Sieling and Kris Vanderlinde.

Several hundred other young people and their adult leaders from locations throughout the United States and Canada, representing many churches, will also participate in the Jamestown Workcamp.

Through their work, these young people will gain a life-changing understanding about the hardships of poverty in our own country. And they'll feel good knowing they've helped make a family warmer and drier this winter. The workcamp provides young people a unique opportunity to show their Christian faith by working together to help others.
