Retired teachers meet in Wolcott

The recent meeting of the Wayne County Retired Teachers Association was held at the Wolcott Elks Lodge with over 90 people enjoying the food, program and fellowship.

John Spellman, guest speaker, gave an entertaining presentation on the history of the Clyde Glass Works, highlighted by actual examples of the early glassware produced by the company.

Central Western Zone officers shared current issues of importance including membership initiatives, legislation concerns and health care programs.

Election of officers was held with the following slate being approved: President John Hogan, Vice President John Ramsey, Secretary Katherine Miller and Treasurer Marjorie Hunt.

Appreciation was extended to musicians who provided the group with lively, delightful renditions: Don Hunt, Margaret Barclay, Jack Grahling and Bob Wadsworth.

Since the focus for this year is learning about some of the unique aspects of Wayne County, the speaker for the fall meeting will be Carolyn Adriaansen, Marion Town Historian, whose topic will be 'The Outhouses of Wayne County.'

This meeting will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the founding of the association.
