Happenings JULY 14, 1888: A new chandelier with ten lamps has been placed in the Congregational Church. Former country school mates, of District #14 on Sand Hill Road, Newark, met at Mary Ellen's Downtown Cafe on June 12 for breakfast and reminiscing. Old-time pictures were viewed and stories abounded. Following the eats, all proceeded to Marion's Museum for viewing and more conversation.'A good time was had by all. SEPTEMBER 2, 1882 - The bridge on Mill Street has been taken up and an arch is constructed in its place, a much needed improvement. This is now one of the smoothest roads and most pleasant drives leaving from our village. Brian and Amy Sippel announce the birth of their son, Troyer Brian, on June 26. Troyer is welcomed home by his sister Demi. On July 8, Gord and Justin Devlin celebrated their mutual birthdays at the Devlin home. After greetings, refreshments, cards and gifts the younger folks jumped in the pool for a refreshing time! The Marion Legion ball games are winding down. You make a living by what you get, but you make a life by what you give. Organist Chris Hefley was welcomed back at the United Church following a vacation. Isabelle Bushart had as weekend guests her sister and husband, David and Ann Brandon from Albany. Marion Happy Travelers will enjoy a presentation of the classic Canadian musical, Anne of Green Gables in Stirling, Ontario on Wednesday, August 13. Leaving from the Marion Fire Hall at 7:30 a.m., there will be a rest stop en route and lunch at East Side Mario's. We should be seated for the show by 1:30 and will depart for home about 4:30 with a supper stop, arriving in Marion about 9. This is a show you will not see in the U.S., since Canada has reserved rights on it. A handicapped bus is available if we need it; don't let your wheelchair stop you from going.
