Another nice week and weekend, wasn't it? Very busy with another fun, busy weekend on the way.

The movies at Sodus Point start this weekend, too. The movie will begin at sunset but there will be other fun events during the day. The parade will begin at 2 p.m. at the Pier Point Marina with a group of ten massive pieces of balloon sculpture just small enough to fit under the wires. The parade also includes a marching band, children, organizations and everyone who wants to participate. Once at the Oscar Fuerst Park, the final assembly will begin as well as the annual festival. The balloon launch will take place at 7 p.m. The international balloon sculpting team has lived in Sodus Point while creating and preparing the giant orange octopus. Go early to avoid the traffic and get a good spot! The family festival will have face painting, DJs, tricycle races, balloon sculpting and demonstrations by the craftsmen. The movie Shrek will begin at sunset.

Larry Moss set the record in 2000 with a team of international sculptors. Their newest creation is a monumental octopus which is around l00 ft. wide and 200 ft. tall, to be ridden by a professional pilot, up 2000 ft. in the air.

This week's concert on July 20 at l p.m. is Fiddlers of the Genesee - old time fiddle music. And at 3 p.m., Nostalgic Reunion will play mellow jazz. There will be an Ice Cream Social as well as wonderful music to enjoy.
