Golf clinic for youths Wayne Hills Country Club, located at 2250 Gannett Road in Lyons, will host a three-day golf clinic, July 23-25 for young golfers, ages 5 to 16. Tim Phelps, WHCC golf professional, and a group of volunteers have planned a fun-filled program, designed to introduce youngsters to the game of golf. Phelps and crew will be working with young golfers who want to learn and upgrade their skills. The program will include lessons on putting, chipping, driving, bunker shots and golf etiquette. On the last day of the clinic, participants will hold a four-hole tournament which will be capped off with a picnic and swimming in the club pool. 'We have put together a comprehensive program, which takes into account the various age groups and skill-levels of the children,' Phelps said. 'We always have a good time.' The Junior Golf Clinic is open to members and non-members of WHCC. Cost for members is $25; non-members fee is $30. For more information on the clinic call Wayne Hills Pro Shop, 946.6944. 'Wayne Hills Country Club is very interested in bringing young golfers into the sport,' said Carmen Pascarella, Chairman of the Board of Directors. WHCC has developed a separate membership category for youths under age 20, designed for youngsters whose parents are not club members. For information on the WHCC Youth Memberships call 923.7795.
