County history book on sale
A Gathering of Memories: Images and Recollections of Wayne County, New York, are now available for purchase in the Old Jail Museum gift shop, 21 Butternut Street, Lyons. This 250-page, soft-covered, indexed publication contains 500 captioned pictures that reflect the first 150 years of Wayne County's history. Interspersed throughout the book, that is generously sponsored by the Lyons National Bank, are reminiscences of people who have fond memories of their life in Wayne County. Chapter titles of the book include Wayne County People, Farming, The Canal, Snow, Wrecks, Fire & Floods, Music and Theatre, Sodus Point, Red Creek, and other titles naming each of the County's 15 towns. The books are being sold for $25 a copy. A portion of the profits made from book sales will go to fund future Wayne County Historical Society publications. Copies of A Gathering of Memories are available for purchase from the Arcadia Historical Society, Carol Bailey, Town of Lyons Historian, Dobbins Drug Store in Lyons, Beth Hoad, Town of Palmyra Historian, Pultneyville Historical Society, Sodus Town Hall, Walworth Historical Society, Wolcott Historical Society, and at all Wayne County branches of David D. Bradley Insurance Offices. Those locations are: 36 Canal St., Lyons; 401 N. Main Street, Newark; 12044 E Main St., Wolcott; 4 E. Main St., Sodus; and Main Street Ontario.
