Outhouse wanted by WCHS

The Wayne County Historical Society wants for someone to donate an outhouse to the Old Jail Museum.

'Two years ago, to coincide with the publication of Hot Potties, the Society's well-received outhouse calendar, an outhouse was built and exhibited in the changing exhibit room at the Museum,' said Andrea Evangelist, Director.

At the close of the exhibit, the outhouse was auctioned off and now is owned by a Rick Kelly, a local bottle collector who uses it to display his bottle collection at area bottle shows.

'The outhouse was a entertaining and educational piece of history, we have missed it since it was carried out the door, and we have found the perfect outside location to display one,' Evangelist adds.

If you have an outhouse to donate, call the Society office at 946.4943, Monday-Friday, 10 to 4 or weekends noon to 4.

Donations to the Society, a 501c3 organization, are tax deductible and a plaque naming the donor will be affixed to the outhouse door.
