History on Jackson & Perkins
The Jackson and Perkins rose empire began with a man's love of gardening. The end result of his passion was a 17-acre rose garden that was a half-million dollar rose showcase and a scene for a series of rose festivals that annually drew some half-million visitors to Newark. Jackson and Perkins employed hundreds in Wayne County and on west coast ranches. Participants may bring a lunch; coffee and cookies, supplied by Zappia Vending Service and the County Historical Society, will be served.
