Lyons budget fails; Newark incumbents ousted

Almost every school budget in Wayne County passed yesterday, with one notable exception - the Lyons spending proposal went down 447 - 336.

Incumbent Ralph D'Amato was re-elected to the Lyons Board of Education, along with newcomers, Jim Santelli and David Fitzgerald.

Incumbents in Newark didn't fare as well. School Board President John Strait and fellow-board members Russ Harris and Dr. Louis Jasper lost their bids for re-election. Top vote-getter in the upset was Nick Santino, followed by newcomers Dee Prong and Phyllis Morey.

School Board members elected in Clyde were: Robert Montemorano, Sandi Bastedo, Walt Votra and David Wright.
