It was a nice week for working in the yard (definitely no problem with it being too hot). I was being a tad lazy and wanted to move one of those wooden tubs without emptying the dirt that was in it. I came up with the bright idea of tipping it sideways (the dirt inside was pretty solid). Of course, I got almost to my destination and all the dirt fell out of it. To make matters worse, I finally got it to the garden and the bottom fell out. Not to despair, I got the dirt in it with no bottom and planted the flowers anyway. Who will know the difference? (Except all of you who read this.)

Happy Birthday to Ruth Malone who shares her birthdate with her Aunt Ruth on June 7.

Fairville Fire Department is having Field Days this weekend. The Parade is tonight at 7. Saturday rides will be from l - 4 p.m. with the drawing for the bikes at 4:30. A BBQ is Saturday from ll to 4. Fireworks will be Saturday night at l0:30 p.m. Sounds like lots of fun with plenty of good food.

swans Speaking of parades, Newark is having a Kiddie Parade tomorrow (June 7). You should be in line between l2:l5 and l2:45 to be in the judging. Anyone arriving after that time will not be able to participate in the judging. It is important to keep track of the child's name tags that will be issued. If the child does not have a tag, no prize will be awarded.

Tomorrow is also the Antique Boat Show at the Sodus Bay Yacht Club. While you're at the Point, you'll notice many having yard sales and garage sales. It's 'Sale Around the Point' day. Sunday (June 8), there is a Motorcycle Poker Run; noon registration at Wolcott American Legion, Ridge Road West; and there's a Chicken BBQ at Sodus Center Fire Hall; noon until ?

Next Tuesday (June 10), will be the school-end concert at Sodus High at 7 p.m. The highlight of the evening is always 'The Battle Hymn of the Republic.' Rehearsal for the 'Battle Hymn' will be at 6:15 in the Vocal Room of the Music Wing and all are invited to sing. The song is a long tradition at Sodus High, started by beloved music teacher Alice Ingison.

Sodus Aquatics Facility hold an Open Community Swim on Monday, Wednesday, from 6 - 7:30 and Friday 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. The entire family is welcome! $2 per person.

There is a Morning/Fitness Swim Tuesday and Thursday, 6:15 - 7:30 a.m. $2 per person. Adult Swim Monday and Wednesday 7:30 - 8:30 p.m. $1.50 per.

Soon, the Summer Reading Programs at the libraries will begin, but so far, I haven't heard a thing about them (including the theme).

Enjoy your week. Hopefully we'll get some sun in between all the raindrops. The bright side is that you don't have to water your plants as often. (Of course, the negative side is nobody wants to get soaked while planting them.)
