Habitat for Humanity breaks ground twice Habitat for Humanity of Wayne County broke ground for two new homes to be built on Danford Street in Sodus this summer. Patricia Hall of Sodus and her four children, Akilah, Shaniece, Shaodel, and Tyrese, turned the first shovels of earth at the site of their new home. They were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Alan Pritchard of Habitat for Humanity and Pastor Gloria Battle, pastor of Grace Cathedral Church and mother of Ms. Hall. Christopher and Lisa Zerniak broke ground with their three children, Lance, Sierra, and Chris, Jr., also in May. Both families will be neighbors with another Habitat family, the Bramhalls, whose Danford Street home was dedicated in January of this year. All Danford Street land was generously donated by Sodus residents Kelley and Tracey Allen. Habitat for Humanity of Wayne County is an ecumenical Christian organization whose goal is to eliminate substandard housing one house at a time by providing simple, decent, affordable housing for God's people in need. They are accepting applications from families wishing to be considered for a home to be built in Marion later this year. Families are selected based on their level of need, their willingness to become involved with Habitat, and their ability to repay the interest-free mortgage. For information on Habitat for Humanity of Wayne County, to submit an application for the Marion home, or to make donations call 986.9915.
