Festivals this weekend in Newark

Newarkfest will fill the area around Central Park June 13, 14 and 15. Everything is free admission.

St. Michael's Parish Festival takes place at the school grounds on South Main Street, Friday and Saturday.

A car show will be held Sunday along Van Buren Street, on the north side of the Erie Canal. It is sponsored by Fingerlakes Street Machines, with members in Newark, Phelps, Port Gibson, Clifton Springs, Lyons, Geneva, Clyde, Seneca Falls, Waterloo, Shortsville and Rochester. The car show registration is from 9 to noon. Club judging is from 1-3 and trophies will be presented at 4 o'clock.

The Newark Country Club will host an open golf tournament Sunday.

Arts & Crafts show in and around Central Park runs Friday 4 to 10, Saturday 10 to 10, Sunday 10 to 4. Visit over 150 booths.

Food booths will abound, including a chicken BBQ at the Presbyterian Church and all things strawberry at the First United Methodist Church. There are many more items/events too numerous to mention.

Newark Elks are offering clams and more and selling raffle tickets. A Flag Day Ceremony will be June 14 at 2 p.m., on South Main Street.

Musical entertainment at the South Main Street stage includes Ruby Shooz, June 13 from 6-10 p.m. (sponsored by Lyons National Bank;

The Blues Family - rhythm & blues revue June 14 from 7-10 p.m. (sponsored by Community Bank, N.A.);

and a Country Jamboree Sunday from 1-5 p.m., sponsored by BigDog Country 103.5 and Wal*Mart.

Newarkfest is sponsored by Wegmans.
