Missing Sodus

It was a pretty week with a few gloomy mornings intermingled with the good but it could be much worse, we could have snow. It has been hard, for people trying to garden or stain their decks.

Weekends tend to be the raining part of the week. If you are looking for a small sturdy umbrella for your patio table, I found a cafe type at the CVS for a very good price. They are the type you see at restaurants with the wooden spokes to hold the material in place, great for hanging light hanging baskets. And they have a piece cut at the top so the wind or breeze goes right through it so it doesn't tend to tip over the table or turn inside out, right before your eyes.

And do you realize what weekend this is? June l3, l4 and l5 is the Newarkfest in Downtown Newark. The festival has all kinds of arts, crafts, food, raffles, entertainment, Flag Day ceremony; the weather is supposed to be nicer Saturday and Sunday.

The Arcadia Museum Open House will be held June 14 and 15, from 10 to 5, in conjunction with Newarkfest. New exhibits and an outdoor antique show is planned. Look for the Arcadia Historical Society booth in Central Park 331.6409. There will be Civil War re-enactors and the Antique show is Saturday only. Free admission. Cody Zone was in one the re-enactments this past weekend.

St. Michael's Parish Festival is this weekend as well with rides, a dunking booth, games, food , cash and vacation raffles sounds like another fun way to spend the weekend.

Don't forget its Fathers Day this Sunday and Red Creek Fire Department is having their Fathers Day Chicken BBQ on Route l04

Mark your calendars, the Summer Reading Program will begin soon at the Williamson Library June, 30 to August 8. Picture This, Imagine That ... six weeks of free fun family programs, crafts for kids and prizes for all readers! Call the phone number listed for more information. TBA Phone: 589.2048.

Looks like the Library has a lot of fun things lined up for everyone. We used to go and I enjoyed the programs as much as the kids. The Library Program is not just for the little ones, there are things lined up for the young adults as well.

The Williamson Free Public Library hours are Monday through Thursday 10 to 8:30, Friday 10 to 5 and Saturday 10 to 2.

Have you ever been to Heritage Square, 7147 Ontario Center Road. Over the past decade, it has been restored as a living museum to reflect life as it was in the early days of Ontario. Open May - September, Saturday & Sunday 1:30 to 4 or by appointment. Call 524.2340.

June 19: Williamson - fourth grade tour.

Acquired by the Town of Ontario Historical and Landmark Society in the early 1970s, Heritage Square includes an 1800s Log Cabin One-Room School House, Baptist Meeting Hall, Iron Ore Miners House, the Warner Farmhouse and the town jail. Its like spending an afternoon walking back through the past.

Do you like birds? I have two myself and at times they can drive you nutty when you are watching TV and they decide to be happy and chirp. But who told me to put them next to the TV?

A reader has some birds available to you: Three hand-fed baby Lutino cockatiels for sale $65 each, and four hand-fed White-faced Lovebirds for sale for $50 each. Still hand feeding them but can take a deposit to hold them. Home phone 524.3990 or cell 585.880.9231. E-mail if you want to SunnyBlitz@aol.com

Well there are lots of fun things to see and do this weekend, the concerts will begin soon at the Lighthouse, the movies at the Point and all of the events associated with the 4th of July Holiday. Ill try to keep you up on all of them that I can.

Its a big help if you send along information as well to keep me up to date so the column can keep others up to date.

Take time to smell that flower in the garden and feel the sun on your face. We've waited a very long time for this to come.
