Marion kids prepare for '42nd Street'
42nd Street performers

Marion High School's musical 42nd Street lead characters are pictured; performances are March 7 & 8 at 8 p.m. and a Saturday (March 8) matinee at 2 p.m.

42nd Street, based on a 1930's movie musical, is the story of a Broadway show Pretty Lady directed by Julian Marsh played by Jeremy Hadley. Pretty Lady stars the aging diva Dorothy Brock played by Amanda VerPlank and her leading man Billy Lawlor - Cody Gardner. Lindsey Brower is the idealistic young actress Peggy Sawyer, who causes the aging Ms. Brock to break her ankle.

Into the mix enter both Dorothy's boyfriend Pat Denning - Aaron Barber and her sugar daddy Abner Dillon - Carl O'Connor - who add to the humor of the show. The curtain rises to reveal Andy Lee, the dance director - Dylan G-Bowley; Mac, the stage manager played by Rick Dean and Oscar, the piano player - Ted Sterchi as they begin auditions for Pretty Lady.

The main chorus girls are Karissa DePoint, Dannis Matteson, Nichol Fox, Courtney Grayson, Melissa Cummings, Amanda Hill, Christi Brian, Caitlin Snyder and Katie Myers. The remaining male characters are Ryan Mulhern as Willard/Doctor; Roy Franks as the waiter/Frankie; Shawn Cummings and Jeremy Hares play thugs; and the lighting technicians are Nick DeYoung and Josh Messenger.

The female chorus members are: Korie Baker, Karine Beam, Stacey Bloomer, Rachel Boerman, Jane Bovet, Jessica Cambier, Erica Cauwels, Felicia Daniels, Christina Driessen, Samantha Gobeyn, Annie Gordon, Alyssa Johnson, Francesca Knowles, Amy Lau, Amanda Marone, Cecillia Marrocco, Katie McCullough, Meredith Morse, Brittany Peters, Gabrielle Peters, Rebecca Plyter, Ashley Rieflin, Kristi Sargent, Jessica Schoonerman, Liz Snyder, Cory Walker and Katie Wilder.

The show is directed and choreographed by Shelly Thompson; vocal music director is Chrissy Stevens; Doug Grab is doing set design and construction.
