Happenings
By Carolyn Adriaansen (926.4436)

A blood drive, open to the public is set for March 11 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Marion High School.

A steady stream of cars and vans traveled west out of Marion on March l headed to the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester. Marion's Class CC boys basketball champs were to play Campbell/Savona at 11:45 a.m. Parents and other family members, including grandparents, were in for a late morning's time of excitement and at times, stress! After the first quarter the score was Marion 14, Campbell/Savona 14. At the end of the half we were down eight points. Prayers were said and cheers shouted as we ended the 3rd quarter with Marion 32 opponents 39. I'll bet you can imagine how the 4th quarter went when I tell you Marion won 55 to 48.

I know phone calls were made to the folks wintering in Florida letting them know the outcome. I imagine this game was played over and over again at Maryellen's Restaurant by the morning coffee guys.

On March 2, new Missionaries Brent and Jennifer Hautle were greeted at the Second Reformed Church. They are with the Child Evangelism Fellowship of Basle, Switzerland.

March 11: Winter Sports Ceremony- 7 p.m. in the High School auditorium.

'If a statue in the park of a person on a horse has both front legs in the air, the person died in battle. If the horse has one front leg in the air, the person died as a result of wounds received in battle. If the horse has all four legs on the ground, the person died of natural causes.'

February 17, 1912: All but two churches were closed Sunday night due to the extreme cold. Jack Sewert continues to recover from his knee surgery.

A Service of Prayer for Crops and Industry will be held at the East Palmyra Christian Reformed Church on March 19 at 7:30 p.m. Pastor Donald White will be preaching. An offering will be received for the Food Pantry.

Congratulations to Marion's wrestlers' Joel Bantle who placed second and Adam Casper who placed third in the sectional wrestling tournament. They both move on the the state qualifier at Brockport State. Matt Mayville and Mike Flynn both finished in sixth place. Also to the modified wrestling team who wrestled Victor, Sodus and North Rose. The team was 16-7-2 for the night bringing their overall record to 116-44-3 with 74 total pins.
