Our trip last week with Jeanne and Harry Lewis to Gettysburg and beyond was wonderful! Our first stop was at Boyd's Bear Country. A big, big barn absolutely filled to the rooftop with bears and cows and moose, etc. If you get in this area don't miss this experience. We were privileged to attend a presentation of 'Abe Speaks' at the Battle Theater and be included in the dramatic famous painting of 'Pickett's Charge' at the Cyclorama Center. We visited the Eisenhower Farm where we toured the home of President and Mamie Eisenhower. (Post cards available). One evening we attended the performance of Daniel-A-Dream, A Den, A Deliverer. Very impressive. We traveled to QVC on our way home. Some of us made purchases and some just enjoyed the tour. After a stop at the Franklin Mint Museum we headed home. All of the cherry trees and tulips were in full bloom and the grass was so green. We have that to look forward to soon, here in Wayne County.

Nellie DeWispelaere is residing with her son, Ike and Nan DeWispelaere of Cory Corners Road.

At The Wayne County Fair Queen Princess Pageant, Marion's Raven Taber won third runner-up in the Queen's competition. Congratulations Raven!

May 4, 1917: There was a large attendance last Saturday afternoon at the raising of the Honor Flag at the corner of Main and Buffalo Streets. The flag was presented to the town for its promptness in raising the allotment in the Third Liberty Loan Drive. Veterans of '61 had places of honor on the platform. The program consisted of a drill and music given by the school children and Scouts with an address by H.A. Robinson.
