Have glasses to donate?
One child in four can't see well enough to read without glasses. By age 40, 90 percent of adults need eyeglasses to read. The lives of nearly 500 million people around the world could be improved with a simple pair of corrective eyeglasses.
As spring cleaning season gets underway, Lions Clubs around the world are asking people to look through drawers, closets and glove compartments for old, unwanted eyeglasses (and hearing aides) and to donate them to the Lions Recycle For Sight Program.
Throughout the year, and especially during the month of May, Lions Clubs will be collecting used prescription eyewear and sunglasses as part of a unique recycling program. The glasses will be refurbished and distributed to the poor in developing countries where eye care is often unaffordable and inaccessible.
