Carnival comes to Newark

The season of firemen's carnivals starts each year in mid-May in Newark. The firemen's field is located off Stuart Avenue, off North Main Street.

Carnival dates are May 14 through 17, with the big Firemen's Parade next Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

The chicken BBQ is Friday from noon to 7, prepared by Buster's Red Rooster. Tickets on sale at Joey's Northside, Eckerd's Drugstore, and Bodine's South End Store. 'Roll the Dice' plays music Friday night from 8 until midnight.

The fireworks are also scheduled for Friday night (May 16) at 10 p.m., presented by Fog Valley Fireworks (rain date Saturday).

Rides by SOFO Amusement Company, with unlimited rides Saturday afternoon for $10. Drawing for bicycles at 4 p.m. that day. Must be present at the carnival to win a bike.
