The official opening of baseball season was held May 3. Town Recreation Dept. held a parade on Main Street to the Town Park, where photos were taken, games were played and a day was enjoyed by folks of all ages.

If you happen to be in the library or even passing by on Maple Avenue, you probably have heard the sound of sawing and hammering. The carpentry work at the front entrance to the building is almost finished. We hope to be using it by the time school is out in June. This will include a reading area dedicated to the memory of Dr. Donald Bovet, as well as display cases donated by the MCS class of 1965.

Hunneybear's is having a craft show on June 28 and 29. Vendors are invited to call 926.1115 for details.

Gord and I spent part of Saturday in Webster where we were spectators at our grandnephews, Kyle and Kirk Cody's spring hockey games. Fancy skating, lots of action! They are the sons of Dave and Kathy (DeWandel) Cody. Teams had a 3-1 loss and a 7-1 win.

Isabelle Bushart has returned from two weeks in Odessa, Texas, where she visited her son Kevin and family. Kevin pastors St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Odessa. Isabelle enjoyed visiting the church as well as her grandchildren's schools. Odessa schools are big on sports and the high school stadiums have 20,000 seat stadiums. There are many oil wells in the area and the city of Midland, the original home of President Bush, is nearby. The area is dry and many of the homes have automatic watering systems for their lawns. The weather was warm and sunny during her visit.
