Historical Society book for sale The Wayne County Historical Society is taking orders for the book, A Gathering of Memories: Photos and Recollections of Wayne County, New York at the Old Jail Museum in Lyons. This 250-page, soft-covered, indexed, publication contains 500 captioned pictures that reflect Wayne County's history. The Lyons National Bank is generously sponsoring the book's publication. Chapter titles of the book include People of Wayne County; Farming; The Canal; Music and Theater; Wrecks Fires, Floods and Storms; Sodus Point, Red Creek, and other titles naming each of the County's 15 towns. Every chapter includes memories that pertain to that section. Books are being sold for $25 a copy and should be available in the Society gift shop sometime in June. If the book is to be mailed, an additional $4 for shipping and handling will be charged. The profits made from book sales will go to fund future Wayne County Historical Society publications and Society projects. Copies of A Gathering of Memories will also be available for purchase from some area historical societies or town historians. Profits from those sales will aid that historical society or historian in the mission of promoting local history. Call 946.4943.
