Happenings Sunday afternoon, during the unexpected time of sunshine and no showers, Gord and I, son Brian and Jill and grandchildren Craig and Derek, went on an 'adventure.' We went for a tour of the gully adjacent to the grounds of my country school on Sand Hill Road in Newark. We spotted oaks and maples and my absolute favorite, 'tulip trees.' Spring flowers were blooming and ferns were poking their heads up through the leaves. Water ambled down the little creek over rocks and fallen logs. We plan to return when other plants are blooming and when the wild berries are plentiful. Welcome home to Dan and Mary Filibert. We're glad you're back in Marion. Bev Layton is recuperating from eye surgery on May 22. June 2 at 7 the Marion PTA meets in the Faculty Room at the Elementary School. June 5 at 7 p.m. - Spring and End of Year Athletic Awards at the high school. June 6 and 7 - Sherburne Earlville Pageant of Bands. A TV antenna on the roof was once a status symbol. Now it means you can't afford cable. I hope they will replace the damaged trees with Maple trees on Maple Ave. Barb and Bill DeWandel spent ten days touring and visiting relatives in Virginia Beach, Greensboro, NC and Fairborn, Ohio. The weather was nice, in the seventies, except for a couple of days of rain. Places of interest were Amish Country of Ohio including Walnut Creek, Mansfield, Berlin and Sugarcreek; the Bible Museum in Mansfield and good country cooking. The girls modified softball team defeated Lyons on May 19. The bottom of the seventh inning Marion was down 15 runs, the score was 12-27. The girls fought hard throughout the rest of the game earning themselves 16 runs and winning the game, 28-27.
