Arcadia Supervisor Joe DeSanto held his seat by a margin of over 500 votes in Tuesday's election. It was the second time DeSanto defeated Republican Dom Bartucca.

A mailing from Bartucca was received by area voters last Saturday, claiming that DeSanto had been a tax and spend supervisor. A similar mailing was circulated on Election Day. DeSanto was angered by many of the claims, but chose not to respond. He went about business as usual, and celebrated his 63rd birthday election night at the Elks lodge, where Democrats headquartered.

When the polls closed at 9 p.m., Democrats scrambled to the polling places for results, while DeSanto played an arcade game with his grandsons. Fellow Dems hovered over voting sheets and calculators, as DeSanto seemed unfazed - he ate a meatball and chatted with friends.

The final unofficial results in, incumbent DeSanto, Town Council members Brenda Westcott and Tom Chappell, and Highway Superintendent Dave Harder (unopposed) celebrated with birthday cake.

Mackenzie Westcott According to Comella, there are 161 absentee ballots out. And although those votes could conceivably alter the results of the race for Town Council, Election Commissioner Tom Healy said that it would be highly unlikely. Former Supervisor Healy said those ballots will be opened on November 17.

Republicans Town Clerk Diane Allerton and Justice Don Fletcher ran unopposed. Wayne County District Attorney Rick Healy also ran unopposed.

Elsewhere in the county, incumbent supervisors Jim Fabino of Lyons, William Hammond of Macedon, Dave Lyon of Palmyra, Donna Chittenden of Sodus and Don Colvin of Savannah held off challengers. Huron Supervisor John Young was unseated by challenger Charles Frederick, and Ontario's Richard Clark lost his second term bid to Joseph Molino.

(Mackenzie Westcott was on hand to congratulate her grandmother, Brenda Westcott on her re-election.)

In the Village of Lyons, incumbent Dennis Alvaro kept his trustee seat, but Sam Catholdi lost his next 4-year term to Deb Murphy.
