Book review lunch in Newark

The Friends of the Newark Public Library will hold their November 14 lunch at noon at the library on High Street.

Lunches are open to all but reservations must be made ahead of time by calling the library at 331.4370 before 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12.

Jean Richards Seymour, a retired Newark High School English teacher, will be the guest speaker.

She will review Lily Dale: The True Story of the Town that talks to the Dead, written by Christine Wicker. Lily Dale, located south of Buffalo in Chautauqua County, is the oldest spiritualist community in the country.

The spiritualism movement began with the Fox sisters, who lived on Hydesville Road in the Town of Arcadia. Click here to read local history.
