Free programs from Historical Society

In Wayne County, the Historical Society is offering free programs to nursery school and head start students; residents of nursing homes, senior living centers, and community residences; and to people who attend nutrition sites.

'The mission of the Wayne County Historical Society is to preserve and present the history of Wayne County,' said Andrea Evangelist, Director of the Society. 'We are pleased that we can work toward our mission and, at the same time, offer free programs to some of the local agencies who continually work to help Wayne County residents.'

Free programs available to Head Start, nursery school, and community residences involve guessing the intended use of various artifacts or experiencing early games. Programs for nursing homes, senior living centers and nutrition sites use What's It, Early General Store, and Early Wayne County Life trunks. A costumed educator presents all programs.

Programs are 45 minutes in length and can be scheduled for late morning or early afternoon on weekdays.

Agencies are asked to contact the Society office at 946.4943, Monday-Friday, 10 to 4.
