  • November 14, Family Roller Skating Party, sponsored by the PTA from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Elementary School gym. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
  • November 17 - Band Citrus Sale ends.
  • November 18-22 is the Senior Trip to Washington, DC.
  • November 20 - Junior High Band and Chorus concert at 7:30 p.m.

There really was a Granny Smith - an Australian grandmother named Marie Anne Smith who accidentally seeded the tree around 1868. This variety is a vibrant green and very crisp. Great baked and sauteed, it's also delicious for snacks or salads.

Dear Dan: I can now see the steeple at the First Church and everyone is busy, raking up the leaves in their yards. (We had a little snow last Saturday). Happy Birthday to Mary on the 19th.

Please note that the date for the Harvest Bazaar at the Scarlet Thread has been changed to November 14 and 15, at the time of the Roadkill Cafe.

There will be an open gym night on Friday, November 21, 7-8:30 p.m. at the Educational Building behind the Second Reformed Church on Mill Street.

The musical group 'Only By Grace' will perform at the Arcadia Reformed Church, In Newark, on Saturday, November 15, at 7 p.m. There is no charge, but a 'love offering' will be collected.

Evelyn Magde remains a patient at the Strong Memorial Hospital.

The Marion Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts collected over 175 boxes of food. During the recent food drive, their largest amount to date.

Heather Mackey presented the offertory music at the Second Reformed Church on November 9.

November 19, 1940: The senior play, 'Aaron Slick from Punkin' Crick' will be played again in East Palmyra School on Friday evening. Those taking part are Marvin Hermenet, Angie Rich, George Eick. Miss Edna Light is directing the play.

'Only you can be yourself. No one else is qualified for the job.'

The Seniors Club needs members! Meetings the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month in the Marion Fire Hall at noon. Lunch - bring a dish-to-pass and your table service. After lunch there will be speakers, Bingo, cards or dominos. Trip discounts available. Questions? Call 926.4494.
