Letter from Lyons Chamber

We, the shop and business owners of Lyons, need your help if we are going to continue to play an active and major role in our community.

Please take a moment and think about this:

  • Who sponsors our Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scout organizations?
  • Who sponsors all of our youth baseball teams?
  • Who contributes monetarily to school fund raisers, year books, plays and band concerts?

Our property and sales tax make up a large amount of tax income to our town and village. If our shops and businesses were not here to contribute to the taxes, the burden would be put back on the residents of Lyons. We all have friends, family and acquaintances that are employed by these businesses. Think about where they would have to go to find work if our own community could not employ them.

It is easy for many to come up with excuses to NOT shop in Lyons. Let's make an effort to come up with excuses to shop in Lyons! With a positive effort we can turn our community around, bring in more business, and learn to thrive on what we have at our fingertips.

We know we don't have everything to offer our community yet. We are trying to make Lyons a better place but we do need everyone's help.

The Lyons Chamber of Commerce is working with area businesses and industries, generating interest in moving into the area. We need to show that we have a lot to offer, that we have a friendly and safe community, that as a community we take an active role in teaching our children respect for their surroundings and each other, and that we are dedicated to shopping local!

If there is a type of shop you would like to see, call the Chamber of Commerce. If there is something you would not like to see, make it heard in front of the Village or Town Boards and become active in the groups that are working on a master plan for our community. Take an active role in our community. Shop here first, and until we can get more industry and businesses into our area, give us a chance.

Save time, save jobs, save gas. Shop Lyons.

Deborah Murphy, President Lyons Chamber of Commerce
