Meeting for trails discussion

The Genesee Transportation Council (GTC), the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Genesee-Finger Lakes region, will be holding eight meetings to solicit public input for Phase 2 of OTC's Regional Trails Initiative.

The local meeting is Thursday, October 9, 7-9 p.m. at Cornell Cooperative Extension, 1581 Route 88 North, Newark.

The purpose of the Trails Initiative is to develop a comprehensive and achievable action plan for community leaders to create and maintain a safe, accessible, and highly functional regional trail system that is fully integrated with the existing transportation system and constitutes a nationally recognized distinguishing feature of this region.

GTC is interested in getting input on trails in the region, including suggestions for improvements to existing trails, ideas for new trails and desired connections, and gauging how the public uses (or would use) the trails in the region.

Phase I of the Regional Trails Initiative focused on the Rochester Transportation Management Area (TMA), which includes Monroe County and the adjacent developed areas of Livingston, Ontario, and Wayne counties.

The focus of Phase 2 of the Initiative is the area outside the TMA Genesee, Orleans, Seneca, Wyoming, and Yates Counties and the communities in Livingston, Ontario, and Wayne Counties not covered in Phase I .

All locations are wheelchair accessible. However, if you require additional accommodations, please contact GTC. www.gtcmpo.org
