Helping you write your memoir
Risley, of Schenectady, will kick off the workshop series with a reading of her own work on Monday, October 20 at 6 p.rn. in the library's community room. A discussion of memoir writing will follow the reading. Monday, October 27, Risley will continue the series with a memoir-writing workshop at 6 in the library's community room. You don't have to be a writer to attend, and you need not have done anything 'important' in your life. Everyone has a story to tell. Find the beauty and importance of your own life and memories and turn them into a lasting work of art. Susannah Risley is the recipient of a James Michener award for a novel-in-progress, as well as a fellowship from the prestigious MacDowell Colony in New Hampshire. She has read her essays on National Public Radio and recently won a poetry contest co-sponsored by Poets & Writers and Barnes & Noble for National Poetry Month. Susannah has taught many memoir-writing workshops in public libraries and community centers throughout New York State. Her workshops have drawn people of all ages and writing experience. Please call 315.331.4370 for more information. Both the reading and the workshop are free and open to the public. This event was funded by the Friends of the Newark Public Library and by Poets & Writers, Inc. through a grant it has received from The New York State Council on the Arts. Copyright
