Volunteers wanted at Newark hospital

There are many volunteer opportunities at the hospital in Newark:

Snack Bar, two Gift Shops, Main Lobby Information Desk, Emergency Department Lobby Information Desk, Offices - filing, copying, typing

Plant Services - maintenance inside and out, housekeeping; Materials Management - mail room, central supply

Medical Records, Radiology, Emergency Department, Delivering flowers and mail

You could be a Spiritual Caregiver - Visiting with patients and residents - being an escort on outings, assisting with crafts, cooking, activities, games

At your own home you may make items for the patients:

• Knitting/Sewing: Walker and wheelchair bags
• Lap robes - knitted, crocheted, fleece with finished edges
• Clothing protectors
• Baby sweaters and layette sets for gift shop or for maternity floor
• Giant Christmas stockings for new babies
• Quilted wall hangings for maternity rooms
• Activity bags for emergency department
• Collecting: Stuffed animals - must be new or very clean; Books and magazines; Crayons, Play-Doh, coloring books, markers, stickers
• Make Friendship Boxes - note cards with stamps, calendars, lotion, Kleenex, pen, toothbrush, toothpaste, poem book/readings, small craft to sit on bedside table
• Toys for Kids Korner - plastic
• Activities: Hold a Baby Shower! All donations will be given to the Maternity Floor. Make friendship/holiday cards for patients/residents.
