Newark celebration held today

Newark's Sesquicentennial Celebration will be marked today at T. Spencer Knight Park, on the north bank of the canal. Food and beverages, such as chili and hot chocolate, will be available starting at 5 p.m.

Performing prior to the fireworks will be Cory Comer's Cassinova Sound Entertainment starting at 6:30, and the Newark High School band at 7:30.

There will also be a fireworks display by the Young Fireworks Company between the two canal bridges - Main St. and East Ave.

Parking will be available at the Wayne ARC lot on Harrison Street, and the IEC lot, entering from Seigrist Street.
