County news briefs
By Donna Comella

The County's 15 Town Supervisors were joined at Tuesday's meeting by 4-H'ers and students from Newark's Participation in Government class. A routine agenda was in store for the 4-H kids, as they filled in for legislators. Joshua Ford of Palmyra was sitting in with Deputy Clerk Kay Groover, so he took several roll call votes. Many of the 4-H'ers presented resolutions to the floor, and Palmyra Supervisor Dave Lyon even had his 'shadow' vote for him once or twice.

There were several purchases and contracts authorized; funds transferred; and appointments made. One appointment designated new County Administrator Kim Park as Clerk of the Board and Budget Officer. She fills the seat on November 1.

Supervisors authorized the closing costs to transfer title to the county of the Erie Canal Cultural Center (ECCC). Construction and renovations to the old J.L. Hammett building in Lyons will transform the Water Street facility into the ECCC. The County also added the building to its insurance coverage, and Board Chairman Marvin Decker appointed an Ad Hoc Committee for the project. The committee includes several supervisors and department heads. Supervisor Dave Spickerman (Butler) will chair the new committee.

The Wayne County Board of Supervisors meets on the third Tuesday of every month in the second floor Supervisors' Chambers of the old County Courthouse in Lyons.
