Groundbreaking at Williamson complex

Town officials and the Williamson Free Public Library Board of Trustees extend an invitation for you to join in the September 4 groundbreaking ceremony for the new town complex.

The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. and will be held on site at 6380 Route 21, directly south of Breen's IGA store.

The complex, which will include the town hall, court, and library, has been a longtime goal for the town. A series of alternative plans had been discussed and discarded until voters decisively approved the present plan in November 2002. The design by Ashley McGraw Architects, PC, will offer the town an accessible, efficient building that is located conveniently and provides generous parking facilities. It will include a larger court facility, adequate storage for town archives, an office for the town historian, more space for the library collection and public computing facilities as well as a comfortable meeting room for community activities.

'We hope to give the Town of Williamson a building to be proud of,' said Town Supervisor Tom Wetherell, 'And we'd be glad to have people join us for the groundbreaking.'

Construction is slated to be completed by next summer.
