September 5 the Marion 7th Grade Jewelry Sale begins.

Recipe Winner

One winner in the food contest at the Wayne County Fair is Linda Whalen with her recipe for Macaroni and Cheese: 12 oz. macaroni (large shells), 6 T. butter, 1/2 cup finely chopped onion (optional), 4 T. all-purpose flour, four cups milk, 1.5 lbs. American cheese slices (1/2 yellow 1/2 white), salt and pepper to taste. Cook macaroni for eight minutes, drain, empty into three-quart casserole dish. For cheese sauce: melt butter, cook onion in butter until tender, add flour, milk, salt and pepper. Cook until thick and bubbly, add cheese. Pour into macaroni. Stir. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.

September 6 - Pig Roast, sponsored by the Girls Varsity Basketball team.

A jewelry sale is in progress for the seventh grade.

September 20 - MARION FESTIVAL - 9 to 3; stop in at the Museum and see the interesting old pantry.

Pauline Wentworth of Zephyrhills, Florida, was a recent guest at the home of her sister, Shirley and Art Stone of Reeves Road. They spent the week attendting auctions and enjoyed eating out. They visited with relatives and friends in De Ruyter. When they had time they worked on a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle.

SEPTEMBER 8, 1955: Lunches will be served in the Marion Central School cafeteria beginning September 12 for 20 cents.

Dollar Days at MaryEllen's - in celebration of Marion's Festival on September 20, you will be able to get your hot dogs, hamburgs, cheeseburgers and French Fries for $1 each. Much more will be available to buy.

Suzanne Stressing was here from Ohio visiting with relatives and friends.

Shawn Burditt presented the Ministry of Music at the Second Reformed Church on August 31. He graciously sang a solo of his own titled, Humble Man.

Congratulations to Sarah Milliman and Nathan Pachelle who were married at a service at Powder Mills Park on August 23.

Jason Cantwell is recovering from surgery.

Wise Ben Franklin said, 'The man who achieves makes many mistakes, but he never makes the biggest mistake of all: Doing nothing.'

The Scarlet Thread will have a work day on September 13, from 8 to 4, to complete many projects in preparation of the 'drop in center' opening in January 2004. Helping hands are needed for a variety of tasks.
