Missing Sodus
Betty Everdyke is recovering from surgery. We hope you have a speedy recovery. (And we ask that she quit pinching her male nurse.....oh, that's Ralph.) Don't forget the Kraft Shack is having their Karnival this weekend. Sat., September 6, 10 to 3 p.m. Everything at 10% off retail, with larger discounts on many items. This sale is on in stock merchandise only and sale prices are good only on day of sale. Excluded from the sale are framing, special orders and items already marked down. No wooden dollars will be given out on sale day. Be sure to sign up for our door prize drawing. (One entry per family) Free gift for everyone who makes a purchase inside the Kraft Shack (One per person). Hot dogs and soda will also be available. There are many great crafts that you can make while you're browsing through the store. Classes at the Kraft Shack will begin soon, September l6 - please be sure to pre-register. At Long Acre Farms, the Amazing Maize Maze begins Fall hours. Also don't forget the encampment at the farm - 3rd Annual Civil War Encampment and Living History Weekend. Free to the Public. Join the Union and Confederate soldiers in their camps and on the battlefield. These dedicated re-enactors put on a great show every year. Sutler merchant also on-site all weekend (September 6 and 7). There are many fun things planned by the farm for the fall months ahead. The Apple Shed is busy this time of year, as well. The Apple Shed is a great place for a field trip or a bus tour! During the months of September and October, they offer educational tours for people of all ages. They also have restroom and picnic facilities available.
There's also U-Pick Apples at Alasa Farms, 6450 Shaker Road, in Alton. Pick your own apples daily from semi-dwarf trees. Fun for the whole family! Includes a visit to the orchards and to the farm for hayrides, farm tours, animals, nature trails and a gift shop. Bring your picnic lunch and make a day of it. Don't forget your camera. Groups, clubs, scouts, schools are all welcome. Call 483.6321 for more information. This Saturday, S.O.S. (Save Our Sodus) will have its Gala fundraising dinner/dance at the Sodus Bay Yacht Club. Call 483.6865 for a reservation. There are still tickets for the drawing for the $22,000 boat. Call 483.8815. And next Saturday, is S.O.S.'s Adopt-a-shoreline Day. Volunteers are needed to clean litter from 3 locations. Meet at Gilligan's parking lot at the east end of the Bay Bridge at 9 a.m. Next Friday is the Ducks Unlimited dinner auction at Sodus Bay Heights Country Club. There will be many fun things to do this fall...Just can't guarantee the warm weather. Time to get out the sweatshirts and sweaters so you can enjoy the wagon rides, mazes, and long walks.
