Happenings Sunday School at the United Church, will be having their Sweets and Treats booth, during the Marion Festival on September 20 Joy and Harry Gates are retiring from delivering Meals on Wheels in Marion. We know they'll be missed by the meal recipients. Each week for ten years Joy and Harry have brought a ray of sunshine and caring to all who received meals. Nelson Claeysen is convalescing at home following a fall from a ladder while painting his house. Pig Roast - September 15 at the Marion United Church. September 16, 1926: The First Reformed Church held a picnic at Holland's Cove, Thursday, August 26 and the Second Reformed Church held a picnic at Crescent Beach the same day. September 19 - Family Roller Skating, sponsored by the Marion PTA- 7-8:30 p.m. in the Marion Elementary School gym. All children must be accompanied by an adult. First Friday night Roast Beef dinner - Friday, September 12 at the Marion Legion Post Home. Adults $6; Seniors $5; Children under 12 $4. Marion Festival - September 20 - 9-3 p.m. Helen Adriaansen is at home following her surgery. Judy White offered the Ministry of Music at the Second Reformed Church on Sunday, September 7, 2003. She presented a solo entitled, 'In Heaven's Eyes'. 'Loving relationships rare a family's best protection against the challenges of the world.' Call me if you are interested in setting up for the Crafts and Flea Market to be held at the Country Home in Shortsville. Thanks to Rod Adriaansen for his collection of Summer Weekly Readers from the years 1946 and 1947. They are now in the school file. Sports briefs - Wayne County's preseason varsity tennis tournaments were held at North Rose-Wolcott. Of 18 singles entries, Hayley Starks was second with Stephany Clark finishing fourth. Katie Lewis and Melissa Levis were second among twelve doubles entries. The girls tennis team defeated North Rose-Wolcott 5-0 for their league opener. The boys varsity soccer team defeated Williamson in their first league contest of the season with a score of 2-1. The varsity volleyball team was defeated by Lyons. Sarah Tokaya had eight kills and Katie Wilder had five. The boys JV soccer team tied Williamson, 2-2. Goals were scored by Nick DeYoung and Zack Huff.
