Newark Rotary blood drive planned There is a severe blood shortage in the Newark area. Every day the New York-Penn Blood Center in Rochester ships 1200 pints of blood to area hospitals. Tighter restrictions on iron levels in blood and people traveling in foreign countries has decreased the number of people who normally donate blood. We need NEW blood donors, to help our dedicated regular donors supply the desperately needed blood. Donating a pint of blood takes only one hour and can save up to three lives. Newark Rotary Club is sponsoring a Blood Drive on September 25 at the Cornell Cooperative Extension office at the corner of Rt. 88 North and Hydesville Rd., Newark. Donor times are from 12:30 to 6:30. Shown practicing for the coming Blood Drive are co-chairs Dave Scuteri and Bob Goodman, and (lying down) Rotary Vice President, Scott Healy. Club President Sherry Muniz challenges the community to beat the old record of 135 pints. Copyright
